The cheapest way to divorce is to use available forms for a "do it yourself" divorce. However, be careful that your cheap divorce does not result in an expensive mistake regarding what property you actually receive or a bad arrangement regarding your children that you will later need to hire a lawyer to try and get the court to change. In any divorce where there is property to be divided or children to be dealt with, it is usually money well spent to at least seek the advice of an experienced family law attorney before you finalize any agreement. And, if you will be going to court for a contested hearing, you definitely should talk to a family law specialist first, whether or not they will appear for you in court.
