The Loop 286 project being built, or soon to be built by the Texas Department of Transportation, or TxDOT, is happening up in Lamar County. I'd like to tell you a little bit more about it and how it may affect you. I'm David Todd. I'm an eminent domain attorney in Austin, Texas, and we're helping people up in Lamar County with this particular project. What TxDOT is doing is on Loop 286, they want to make improvements from US 82 West to South 271. Generally, these improvements include widening of right of ways and possible addition of extra lanes.
What does that mean for you as a landowner? It means that if you're along this route, you may well be affected by them coming in and taking your property using eminent domain authority. The meeting for this was in July of 2020, the initial public meeting. It's scheduled to start right away, acquisition, in the spring of 2021. So that means that you could be getting notices. You may have already received a notice that you're affected by this project.
What you should do if that is the case, go ahead and visit us at DavidToddlaw.com.
