Why Board Certification matters

David Todd is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Board certification indicates extensive experience with and knowledge of a particular legal specialty. Attorneys must meet strict practical experience requirements and apply for permission to take the certification exam. If approved as qualified, the attorney must take and pass a full-day exam to become board certified. Less than 10% of Texas attorneys are board certified in any area of law, and less than 1% of Texas attorneys are board certified in family law. Board certified attorneys are the only lawyers allowed by the State Bar of Texas to publicly represent themselves as a specialist in a select area of law.
