The FM 741 project being built by TxDOT, or the Texas Department of Transportation, in Kaufman County is coming up in terms of acquisition of property for this project. My name is David Todd, I'm an eminent domain attorney in Austin, Texas, and we are helping people with this particular project and wanted to let you know a little bit more about it and how it may affect you.

This is a project where Texas Department of Transportation, or TxDOT, plans to create some improvements and expansion of the FM 741 section in Kaufman County. They're going to improve a little less than eight miles of that highway from US 175 in Crandall to FM 548 in Forney, Texas. They're going to include improvements like turning the two-lane rural section into a proposed four-lane divided urban roadway. The existing right of way width currently varies from 70 to 100 feet, and the proposed right away is going to be increased to 140 foot wide from US 175 to FM 2557, and 120 foot wide from FM 2757 to the end of the project as you can see there on the map.

They had a public meeting about this in November of 2020, the right of way acquisition is scheduled to start early 2022. And so what does that mean? That means you may be receiving a notice, survey requests, possibly an offer on your property, at least some sort of notice if you're affected by this. If you think you might be affected by it, go ahead and contact us, davidtoddlaw.com, get our free Texas eminent domain guide, and then contact us to see how we can help make sure you're protected, and if you're going to be affected by this, that you get maximum compensation for your property.
