When you've been in an accident, one of the most frustrating things is when the insurance company adjuster for the driver that hit you makes you some kind of ridiculous low-ball offer for your injuries and your lost wages, your medical bills, all these kinds of things. And it's the thing that I hear that's probably the most common complaint from injury victims and their families is "I feel like I've been injured twice. Somebody smashed into me, they weren't paying attention. They're at fault. And now I'm having to fight to get compensation for something that I didn't even want to have happen. It was not my fault."

Unfortunately, that's the reality of insurance. Their job on the other side is to pay you as little as possible, and nothing if at all possible, because they are a business, they're in it for profit and they don't run their business or build those giant buildings by paying out a lot of claims at a high value. They do it by collecting premiums.

And this even sometimes applies to your own insurance. You may have under-insured or uninsured motorist ("UM") coverage. In Texas, often you have to sue your own insurance company just to get them to do what they had promised to do when you paid them those premiums for all of those years.
