The depressed median section begins near County Road 279, continuing east to County Road 245 in Smith County. Then the road will then convert back to a flush median section from County Road 245, east to FM 1639 in Gregg County. They will be using a curb and gutter in urbanized areas and redesign the roadway alignment to improve safety and meet the current design criteria for TxDOT.
