TXxDOT, or the Texas Department of Transportation, is planning to do expansion and improvement of US Highway 79 in Williamson County, Texas. How is this going to affect you? My name is David Todd. I'm a Texas eminent domain attorney in Austin, Texas, and we are helping landowners in Williamson County who are dealing with this US 79 TxDOT project and I want to tell you a little bit more about it.
It is a widening of US 79 from I-35 to FM 1460, near the city of Round Rock. The proposed widening will have the following improvements. They're going to widen the existing US 79 to include an additional travel lane in each direction. They're going to raise the median for safety. They're going to do an intersection improvement, which potentially includes overpasses at US 79 and North May Street and US 79 at FM 1460, and alterations to US 79, I-35 intersection. It also will include modifications to driveways and access points to improve safety and traffic flow and the construction of shared-use paths on both sides of US 79, to provide improved pedestrian and bicycle access through that area.
They had a public meeting about this in 2018. The right-of-way acquisition is actually underway as we record this video, so if you are affected by this property, if you're a landowner along this route, and you feel like you may receive notice or have received notice from TxDOT, that they're going to try to take your property for this project, what should you do?
